Position: Behavior Intervention Specialist

Job Summary:
The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing specialized support and intervention strategies to students with behavioral challenges in a special education setting. This role requires expertise in behavior management techniques, data analysis, and collaboration with educational staff, parents, and external professionals. The Behavior Intervention Specialist will work closely with the Special Education team to assess, develop, and implement behavior intervention plans tailored to meet individual student needs.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments to determine the underlying causes of challenging behaviors.
2. Collaborate with the Special Education team to develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) that address identified behavior goals.
3. Provide ongoing support and training to educational staff on effective behavior management strategies and techniques.
4. Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and modify behavior intervention plans accordingly.
5. Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistency in implementing behavior intervention strategies across different settings.
6. Conduct regular observations and provide feedback to educational staff regarding behavior management techniques and strategies.
7. Collaborate with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to identify appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with behavior challenges.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, interventions implemented, and communication with parents and external professionals.
9. Attend IEP meetings and provide input on behavior goals and strategies to support student success.
10. Stay informed about current research, best practices, and legislation related to behavior management in special education.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
3. Proven experience working with students with behavioral challenges in a special education setting.
4. In-depth knowledge of behavior management strategies, positive behavior supports, and functional behavior assessment.
